time to move back home.
Heritage Aviation hired him
to manage its growing avionics
department in Burlington, Vermont.
Hanf began attending the AEA
International Convention & Trade
Show and AEA Connect conferences
every year and became more
involved with general aviation.
When Hanf first considered
opening his own business, he
consulted with other shop owners
and industry professionals he met
through the AEA.
In 2011, Hanf opened Green
Mountain Avionics. In a few short
years, the company has grown to
support six full-time employees,
two maintenance hangars and an
avionics demonstrator aircraft.
Hanf was awarded the 2013
Avionics Technician of the Year for
the Portland, Maine, FSDO and the
2015 Vermont SBA Veteran Owned
Business of the Year Award.
Hanf and his wife, Sara, live in
the mountains of Lincoln, Vermont,
with their young sons, Wiley and
Gunnar. Hanf's daughter, Ashley, is
a young adult and lives in Southern
California.

Garry Joyce

IAE Ltd. - Cranfield, England
As a youngster, Garry Joyce
enjoyed tinkering with radios and
other electronics. It wasn't until a
Royal Air Force squadron leader
made a career-oriented presentation
at his school that he discovered an
outlet for his interests.
Joyce joined the Royal Air Force
in 1989, originally as an airborne
radar apprentice, and then moved
into avionics. Following his initial
training, he was posted to work
on the flight line of a Tornado F3
