Dart Aeronautical recently expanded its capabilities, adding a new,
dedicated electrical shop at its location on Rand Airport.

"Some people want to own a
business, and others want to work
for a business," Viljoen said. "My
dad had his own business since I can
remember, so for me it was almost
a given. Jaco just had a passion
for it. Trevor Brown, the previous
owner who sold us the company, saw
something in us that we didn't at the
time. From the time we decided we
wanted to purchase the business until
the day he left, he was relentless.
Trevor didn't stop teaching us. Getting
to work early and leaving late was
normal. I can honestly say he had a big
part in the success we have today, and
for that, I will always respect him."

are still learning and working through
challenges, from dealing with South
Africa's devalued currency to keeping
up with customer's expectations.
"Doing business in South Africa is
tough, in my opinion," Viljoen said.
"Good customer service plays a big
role in being successful here. We
operate more in the flight school and
private market where guys will pay a
bit more for good service. We also get
customers who want good service but
don't like paying for it. Economically,
I think the biggest issue is the
exchange rate."
