THOMAS GLOBAL SYSTEMS signed a distribution agreement with
fellow AEA member company, DAC INTERNATIONAL, a Greenwich
AeroGroup company.
Under the agreement, DAC International will serve as a distributor of
Thomas Global's range of plug-and-play CRT-to-LCD avionics display
products.
The products covered by the agreement are Thomas Global's new
suite of cockpit CRT-to-LCD display retrofit solutions, which offer a plugand-play LCD replacement solution for existing cockpit CRT displays in
business, commercial and regional aircraft.
According to the company, the LCD solutions eliminate CRT
obsolescence threat, dramatically increasing system reliability, and
driving down maintenance costs. Launched in 2015, the retrofit solutions
allow operators to get the most out of their existing cockpit investments,
eliminating expensive full cockpit upgrades and with no need for
changes to cockpit panels or wiring, equipment downtime and flight crew
retraining.

AVIDYNE and ForeFlight, creator
of a widely used flight planning and
electronic flight bag app for Apple
iPad and iPhone, announced that the
Avidyne IFD540/IFD440 FMS/GPS/
NAV/COM systems can now interface
to ForeFlight via wireless connectivity.
"We are pleased to have ForeFlight
as a compatible aviation application
for our IFD540 and IFD440
customers," said DAN SCHWINN,
Avidyne's president and CEO.
"ForeFlight has taken advantage
of Avidyne's open-architecture
wireless interface, opening up many
possibilities for transferring and
displaying of data in the cockpit −
including mapping, flight planning and
display of ADS-B weather and traffic−
as we move forward."
Initial connectivity will allow
iPads with the newly announced
ForeFlight version 7.6 to wirelessly
receive and display GPS position
and flight plan information from
Avidyne's IFD540/440 units
running the current v10.1 software.
Additional capabilities will be added
in an upcoming IFD v10.2 software
release.
In addition, Avidyne and Flight
Plan LLC, provider of the
FltPlan.com aviation website and
FltPlan Go application, announced
wireless integration between the
FltPlan Go application and Avidyne's
IFD540 and IFD440 systems.

Aspen Avionics
ASPEN AVIONICS received a supplemental type certificate to
interface its Evolution Primary and Multi-function displays with Garmin's
GDL 88 dual-band ADS-B datalink transceiver. Additionally, the
interface to Aspen displays from the Garmin GTX 345 ADS-B datalink
transponder is planned to be available by the end of 2016, according to
Aspen.
"With ADS-B compliance rapidly approaching, aircraft owners are
looking for options that provide value-added weather and advanced
traffic information at a price that is affordable and that will work with
multiple display options," said MARK FERRARI, vice president of
sales and customer support at Aspen Avionics. "This interface clearly
addresses those needs."
The cost for the software to unlock these functions for either the GDL
88 or the GTX 345 is $795, and can be installed at any Aspen Avionics
authorized dealer.
