Bryson Pogson of Turbine Aircraft Services

Hawker Beechcraft lines. The
company also maintains a sizeable
clientele of smaller single-engine
aircraft from various manufacturers.
The maintenance of turbinepowered, corporate aircraft makes
up approximately 75 percent of
its total volume. The company is a
certified repair station and follows a
regimented inspection, reinspection
protocol.
Recently, Avionics News spoke to
Bryson Pogson to learn about his
work at Turbine Aircraft Services as
well as his life outside the office.

established at Wiley Post
Airport in January 2001 by
Mike Harbison for the maintenance
and repair of a broad range of
jet and propeller-driven aircraft.
These include the various models
of Bombardier Learjet, Bombardier
Challenger, Cessna Citation and

What are your responsibilities as director of business development?
I am responsible for the
business side of the house - from
bookkeeping and marketing to
building relationships with new
areas for growth of the company.
I look for more OEM dealerships
and different ways to branch out
to bring other services to our
customers.
How long have you
worked there?
I started in June of last year.
Previously, I had been a customer
of TAS for almost 20 years. I have
managed airplanes and worked
for companies that used TAS as
a vendor for maintenance, and I
have a long-standing relationship
with the owner of TAS and his
partner. I had an opportunity
quite some time ago to get out of

the airplane business. I worked
outside the industry for a dental
service organization that owned
an airplane, and I managed the
airplane and the company. After a
while, I felt the need to get back
full time to the airplane business.
TAS was growing and needed
someone with experience on
the business side of things and a
working knowledge of aviation. I
decided to take advantage of this
and see what I could do.
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in
Houston, and I grew up in Abilene
and San Angelo, Texas, and went
to the University of Oklahoma
for its aviation program. For
five years, I was chief pilot for a
company in San Angelo - that's
where I got in touch with a former
friend, and I ended up getting
married to Ann. That was 1997,
and I've been here ever since.
What's a typical day
for you?
It would be marvelous to have
one. Considering my title has many
functions, it changes every day. As
a qualified pilot, I troubleshoot a
great number of airplanes while
making sure that all the invoicing
and accounts payable are managed
along with cash flow. I also
interface with our customers as
a customer service rep and then
work with the company owner
to institute new business plans.
