GARMIN announced new enhancements made available within the Garmin Pilot app for iOS mobile devices.
Pilots flying around the globe, including Europe, are
now offered the option of filing VFR flight plans for free
directly with the country Aeronautical Information Service
with a Garmin Pilot subscription. Additional features for
iOS include a flight profile view, new VFR charts for the
United Kingdom and France, customized personal minimums, preferred runway selection based on favorable
winds, aera 660 integration and new, cost-effective pricing subscriptions.
"We're dedicated to growing our global presence
with Garmin Pilot by now offering pilots the capability to file their flight plans directly within the app, while
also expanding chart availability within select European
countries," said CARL WOLF, Garmin's vice president
of aviation sales and marketing. "In addition to making
a series of enhancements within Europe, we've incorporated many safety-minded features, including the option
of displaying TFRs and METARs within the flight profile
view and incorporating customized personal minimums.
All of these new features combined into a single app
give customers added reassurance that flight-critical
items are not overlooked during pre-flight planning and
in-flight navigation."

Garmin also received European Aviation Safety Agency
approval of new high-end flight deck technologies, as
well as Connext and VFR Manual Charts, which are now
available for the GTN 650/750 touchscreen avionics.
This new update provides options such as custom holding patterns and search and rescue patterns, as well as
animated NEXRAD radar, fuel range ring display, RF leg
approach support and more. New and existing customers
can receive these features by contacting an authorized
Garmin dealer. Additionally, the GTN PC Trainer has been
updated to reflect these new capabilities within the GTN
series and is available as a free download

TRUENORTH AVIONICS introduced connected.aero, the
company's new airborne connectivity service. According to
TrueNorth, connected.aero will be aviation's first hybrid cloud
solution designed to amplify bandwidth and enhance the inflight connectivity experience to be more like on the ground.
"In-flight connectivity performance has improved over the
last 10 years, but the passenger experience is often less than
ideal," said MARK VAN BERKEL, TrueNorth chief executive
officer. "Our focus is to make the connectivity experience in
the air the same as on the ground, which is why we created
connected.aero. Included with our Optelity Pro Cabin Gateway
product, it is designed to take advantage of the bandwidth
that's available while creating a secure, more efficient connection between the aircraft and the service provider."

TrueNorth Avionics announced that its Simphonē airborne connectivity system was selected for a Gulfstream
G650 completion. The aircraft, delivering from Gulfstream
Completions, will have a system that will enhance overall
passenger communications, according to the company.

FreeFlight Systems
FREEFLIGHT SYSTEMS announced that Nebraskabased Trego-Dugan Aviation received AML STC approval
for installation of a FreeFlight 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor
and Garmin GTX 330ES Mode S transponder in 460-plus
aircraft. FreeFlight's 1201 WAAS/GPS sensor is a highintegrity position source in a compact, lightweight package. The 1201 pairs with ADS-B capable transponders like
the GTX 330ES to provide rule-compliance.
In addition, FreeFlight Ssytems also said that engineering and certification company CMD Flight Solutions
obtained an AML STC for the installation of a FreeFlight
1203C SBAS/GNSS sensor paired with Rockwell Collins'
TDR-94/94D transponders.
