UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. said that its
UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit
Software Control Number 31.X is expected to receive technical standard order approval by mid-2016. The new software upgrade provides operators with the
necessary Controller-Pilot Data Link
Communications message sets to
meet the European Link 2000+
Programme mandate requirements.
"With receipt of this certification, our customers will be able to
start realizing the efficiencies and
time savings associated with communicating via CPDLC," said DAN
REIDA, vice president of sales and
marketing. "Our FANS-1/A+ customers have repeatedly touted these
benefits for oceanic operations, and now, it will be available for
European domestic operations, as well."

The company also said that certification for the integration of
Universal Avionics EFI-890H Advanced Flight Displays in the
Airbus Helicopters Super Puma AS332L1 is on track for mid2016. Preparations for certification are currently underway. The
Super Puma installation package includes dual EFI-890H Primary
Flight Displays (one pilot-side and one co-pilot side), dual UNS1Fw Multi-Missions Management System with 5-inch Flat Panel
Control Display Units, and a single Radio Control Unit. Optional
Night Vision Goggle-compatible displays, controllers, MMMS
FPCDUs and RCU versions are available.
In addition, Universal Avionics announced that the FAA granted
TSO authorization for the AHS-525 Attitude Heading Reference
System. The company noted that its long-awaited approval allows
it to manufacture and bring to market a new addition to its product line.
And finally, CAREY MILLER was appointed to the newly created position of director of corporate programs and business
development.

AVIDYNE received European Aviation Safety
Agency approval of its IFD540 and IFD440 GPSbased Flight Management Systems.
Avidyne, DAC International and authorized
European Avidyne dealers are now accepting
orders, and initial deliveries of the EASA-approved
IFDs began in June, according to Avidyne.

Porta Air Service
PORTA AIR SERVICE, Porta Westfalica and

AirPlus Maintenance, Friedrichshafen merged
their businesses. The new alliance with 85
employees now offers one-stop shop solutions
for piston, turboprops and jets under the EASA
and the FAA at five different locations.
The new alliance is an authorized service
center for Cessna, Piper, One Aviation, Texas
Turbines, Jetprop, StandardAero and Centurion.
