his trust in me, I don't know where
Trillium Aerospace would be today.
What's the state of the
company today?
Up to spring 2016, I was working out
of my home office and felt it was time
for the next phase of growth. So I rented a commercial office space. I have
three full-time employees plus myself.
Trillium Aerospace provides clients
with a cost-effective means of certification. We accomplish that by taking
care of all the engineering drawings
and 95 percent of the certification documents and then utilize DERs, DARs,
ODAs, and DAOs to provide a final
certification data package. By us doing
the drawings and 95 percent of the
documents, the DERs, DARs, ODAs or
DAOs are only doing reviews and not
the generation, so it becomes cheaper
for the client. Our airframe experience
is small business jets to Boeing 777
and Airbus 330s. Those large airframes
are a small portion of our business.
Normally, we concentrate on business
and regional jets.
What's a typical day?
I start at 7 a.m., and at 8 a.m., my
guys come in for a quick chat about
the day. Then I let my guys go and do
it. I don't get involved in micromanaging. When they have questions,
they come to me, but they are selfsufficient and they do the work. That
leaves me to do proposals, quotations, as well as research on integration on airframes and CAD drawings.

A typical day is mostly administrative,
and once I get the basics of a project,
I pass it off to them.
Is having your own
business what you
thought it would be?
It is, but it was a big change moving from a home office to a corporate
office. There were things I didn't realize from health and safety issues to
insurance coverages. It was a bit of a
shock to the system initially, but now I
know what to expect.
What sets Trillium apart from
other engineering companies is we
do whatever it takes to meet our
customers' expectations. As a team,
we'll put in overtime to meet a
deadline or come in on a day off. Our
customers are No. 1, and we'll do
anything to meet their expectations.
So what is your life like
outside the office?
I am a workaholic, but thank God
I have a wife who's understanding.
I enjoy boating in the summer and
wakeboarding. We're near Lake Huron
and have an 18-foot Bayliner. As a
family, we try to get out on the water
at least every other weekend to go
tubing and wakeboarding. When I'm
not boating, I like to play the guitar.
I don't play as much as I'd like, but
I enjoy it. I certainly like designing
stuff - for example experimenting
with electronics projects such as the
BeagleBone microcomputer and PIC
microcontroller.

On a social aspect, I'm involved with
the Lions Club, a service organization,
as the second vice president. We meet
three times a month.
Tell me about your family.
I am married to Monica who is
from Peru. We met on a business trip
when I was there. I was on contract
working on a survey airplane, and we
met one evening when I was out to a
bar. From that point, we had a longdistance relationship for more than
two years. During that time, I saw her
three times, and the fourth time was
for our wedding. We got married in
Peru. We have three kids. My oldest
son, Josef, is 21, and we have Kyle
who is 10 and Anthony who is 9.
What do you see
in the future?
The future of Trillium
Aerospace is in the logo.
First, we have a partial
gear that represents the
mechanical aspect of aviation that
Trillium Aerospace wants to get into.
Within the gear, there's a blue globe
that represents the world, which is the
eventual goal to be known worldwide.
Within that globe, there are three
electrons that have two meanings: The
electrical aspect of aviation, but more
importantly, my three children. My
goal is to be a full-service avionics and
structural engineering company that is
known worldwide. q
