Rockwell Collins markets two other systems: The TWR850/WXR-840 package, and the WXR-2100.
The solid-state TWR-850 delivers ranges to more than
300 nautical miles in a smaller package offering many of
the same features as its bigger hangar mate.
The solid-state WXR-2100 MultiScan ThreatTrack
detects and analyzes adverse weather phenomena and
automatically displays weather that is a threat to aircraft.
Its advanced technology makes optimum adjustments to
maximize the "probability of detecting" weather hazards
during all phases of flight, reducing long deviations and
delays to the gate and ensuring a safer, smoother and moreefficient journey. And it can track up to 40 individual cells
and show their movement.

Datalink options:
Plentiful - and an option for any aircraft
Turn in almost any direction and a system exists to bring
datalink weather into the cockpit. Virtually every avionics
maker offers an option to use ADS-B In - the source of the
FAA's free-weather FIS-B - either directly onto a cockpit
display or to a portable device.
Many of the options for datalink weather radar in the
cockpit are integral to some solutions for equipping with
ADS-B. Some provide their own display, some can use a
cockpit display - and others employ Wi-Fi capabilities that
allow the display to wirelessly connect to a portable device
such as an Android phone or tablet, an Apple iPhone or
iPad, or on a dedicated portable display.
The options are many, the benefits numerous. And as
a complement to airborne weather radar, they give flight
crews a view unavailable from the airborne weather radar
installed in the aircraft. q
