"Our engineering is a small group, two licensed engineers,
one AME and a store person," Gaulke said. "We are kept busy
with our own fleet and regular customers, but often make time
to help people passing through who need engineering help. Out
here, there is no other aircraft engineering group going east
until Adelaide, South Australia, about 1,000 kilometers east; 600
kilometers west; and 1,500 kilometers north. So, we can be called
upon to help a lot of people."
For operators of small general aviation aircraft, the primary
east-west flight path across Australia extends through Forrest
Airport to Kalgoorlie-Boulder then onto Perth. From time to
time, operators stop with a variety of issues on a variety of
aircraft, according to Gaulke.
"We try to offer as much support as we can, sometimes
contacting their home engineering company," Gaulke said.

"In 2015, a gentleman from Sydney had purchased a Cirrus
Aircraft in Perth. He and his wife were flying it back home.
They spent the night in Kalgoorlie, then stopped at Forrest
Airport to refuel. After refueling and a bit of a rest, he tried
to start the engine. It was a 40-degrees Celsius (104-degrees
Fahrenheit) day. Having spent time in the sun, the aircraft
suffered from fuel vaporization. He had flattened the battery
