ADS-B In
The following information is from the Federal
Aviation Administration.

Question:

What are ADS-B In broadcast services?

Answer:

ADS-B In pilot cockpit advisory services consist
of Flight Information Service-Broadcast and Traffic
Information Service-Broadcast. These are free services
transmitted automatically to aircraft equipped to
receive ADS-B In.
FIS-B provides a broad range of textual/graphical
weather products and other flight information to the
general aviation community. FIS-B is only available on
the 978 MHz Universal Access Transceiver equipment.
FIS-B includes the following:

Non-routine aviation weather reports (SPECIs).

Instructions for continued airworthiness
(NPA 2018-01)
This NPA proposes to amend Annex I (Part 21) of
Regulation (EU) No. 748/2012 to clarify that ICA are
part of the type certificate, and to develop the related
acceptable means of compliance and guidance material.
It also merges the requirements related to record keeping,
manuals and ICA in the various subparts into a single
requirement for each of these aspects in Subpart A (new
points 21.A.5, 6 and 7).
The proposed changes are expected to improve the
harmonization of ICA among the design approval holders
in relation to the identification, approval, formatting and
availability of ICA to the end users.
The deadline for submission of comments is April 30, 2018.

TIS-B is an advisory-only service available to both
1090 ES and UAT equipment users. TIS-B increases
pilots' situational awareness by providing traffic
information on all transponder-based aircraft within
the vicinity of the ADS-B In equipped aircraft receiving
the data.

Provision of airworthiness requirements
in support of global performance-based
navigation operations (NPA 2018-02)
This NPA contains an update of the certification
specifications for airborne communications, navigation and
surveillance, which primarily incorporates the certification
criteria related to the use of airworthiness and interoperability
standards in support of performance-based navigation
implementation, as well as other minor amendments to the
requirements published in Decision 2013/031/R. The intent of
this NPA is to propose new sections in Subpart C Navigation,
which is currently reserved.
The new sections are specifically dedicated to support
global PBN operations and provide clear requirements
in Book 1, as well as acceptable means of compliance
and guidance material in Book 2. These additions ensure
conformity with the performance requirements and
functionalities that stem from ICAO's RNP navigation
specifications, i.e. RNP 4, RNP 2, RNP 1, advanced RNP,
RNP approach, RNP authorization required, and RNP 0.3.
The deadline for submission of comments is April 30, 2018.
