and training. Our main wheelhouse has historically been
avionics. We're doing maintenance now too, for any
piston-powered aircraft under 12,556 pounds. We're
also a Transport Canada-approved manufacturer with
engineering capability, and several STCs. We manufacture
CNC parts in-house and make harnesses and kits."
Scott also has begun to formalize the service center's
training capabilities.
"It's amazing how many people in the industry don't
understand ADS-B and pitot-static issues," he explained.
"They don't understand all the nuances of how to select
the right test equipment or what training they need.
All these things come into play if you have a King Air
in your shop that needs a 24-month pitot-static Mode
C correlation, and you don't fully understand if it has
ADS-B In and Out, and one unit in the system that may

be misconfigured. If you certify that airplane, you could
be missing a bunch of stuff. For example, we get airplanes
that have been transmitting the wrong tail number for
years."
In addition to creating courses for his colleagues, Scott
travels to shops in nearby provinces to provide hands-on
training. During installations, his team works to educate
customers' technicians on avionics operations and
maintenance.
Scott's focus on education extends beyond his
customers. As a pilot, he strongly believes in teaching
his technicians the basics of flying. Scott pays the ground
school fees for every employee. In the past year, two
employees have gone on to earn their pilot's license.
