GARMIN received Federal Aviation
Administration supplemental type
certification approval for the GFC
500 autopilot in several more aircraft
models. Intended for qualifying piston
single-engine aircraft below 6,000
pounds, the GFC 500 delivers selfmonitoring capabilities and minimal
maintenance needs when compared
to older generation autopilot systems,
according to Garmin.
The company noted that the GFC
500 autopilot integrates with the G5
to provide pilots with a capable autopilot along with a modern electronic
flight instrument. The autopilot mode
controller contains large dedicated
keys and knobs, a control wheel that
allows for adjustments to aircraft
pitch, airspeed and vertical speed
and a level button that returns the
aircraft to straight-and-level flight.
The GFC 500 servos also contain
a brushless DC motor and a gear
train that eliminates the need for a
maintenance-prone mechanical slip
clutch. G5 provides input and display
of altitude preselect, heading, vertical
speed target, airspeed target and Flight
Director command bars for the GFC
500. An optional GAD29 adapter allows
the GFC 500 and G5 to interface with
select Garmin GPS or VHF navigators.
The latest approvals for the GFC
500 autopilot include the following
aircraft: Beechcraft Bonanza S35,
V35, V35A and V35B; and Piper
PA-28-150/151/160/161/180/181. q

Genesys Aerosystems
GENESYS AEROSYSTEMS earned FAA supplemental type certificate

approval of the S-TEC 3100 on: Cessna 210K through R models; Beechcraft
Bonanza A35/36 series models; and Cessna 182 series.
According to the company, the 3100, a 2-axis digital autopilot (3-axis
available on some models), brings enhanced features such as automatic
trim, envelope protection and alerting, one button straight-and-level recovery, indicated airspeed hold and altitude preselect (requires baro input), to
name a few. The 3100 comes standard with traditional autopilot modes like
lateral (GPS, VOR, LOC, HDG, LPV, FMS) and vertical (GPS, LPV, GS, VS,
ALT) navigation. The 3100 also supports many third-party EFIS displays and
has its own internal ADHRS, should an EFIS not be installed.

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics
MID-CONTINENT INSTRUMENTS AND AVIONICS introduced the
MD32 Magnetometer designed specifically for the company's MD302 Standby
Attitude Module. According to the company, the MD32
Magnetometer delivers independent heading reference
without orientation limitations or the need for special installation hardware. Its compact design, mounting flexibility
and cockpit calibration ensure economical installation.

True Blue Power introduced a 2,000-watt, AC-to-DC
voltage converter. The TC2000 is ideal for aircraft with
AC electrical systems that require 28-volt DC power, according to the company. This includes executive aircraft, airline and passenger configurations.
The voltage converter delivers 28-volt DC power to in-flight entertainment
systems; interior and exterior lighting; and in-seat, cabin and cockpit USB
power. Just one TC2000 powers more than 100 single, True Blue Power USB
charging ports.
It is FAA TSO/EASA ETSO certified and manufactured in an AS9100Ccertified facility.
