Gulf Coast Avionics GCA.aero * Lakeland, Florida Number of employees: 30 What date was the project started? February 13, 2018 Installers/technicians involved with the project: * Larry Hawkins (lead avionics installation technician) What date was the project completed? April 29, 2018 * Lisardo Sanchez (avionics/sheetmetal technician) * David Brown (avionics installation technician) * Jonathan Ibarra (avionics installation technician) * Joshua Davis (avionics installation technician) Aircraft Type: Beechcraft King Air C90 What was the objective of the project? To convert the legacy Beechcraft King Air C90A from a former government-use aircraft to a stateof-the-art aircraft with Garmin touchscreen avionics and meet the ADS-B compliance mandate. What makes this installation unique? It was the first Garmin G600 TXi touchscreen system that Gulf Coast Avionics has installed in a King Air C90. Did you encounter any problems while working on the project? There were quite a few radios and other pieces of miscellaneous equipment that were particular to the prior mission of the aircraft. Determining interfaces and what needed to stay or be removed took a while. In addition, the aircraft's forward pressure bulkhead had been modified and required a complete rework. How did you resolve these problems? We essentially had to research the particular systems and chase down the wiring through the aircraft. The bulkhead penetration was sent to DER for rework. What did you learn from the project? If the aircraft was previously used for government/experimental purposes, allow extra time for system rework and removals required to return the aircraft back to its original condition. q AFTER Everything from the pilot's side to the center stack is new except for the analog engine instruments. 22 AVIONICS NEWS * JULY 2018http://www.GCA.aero
