that industry gathers to learn about the latest regulatory
developments, plus the latest tools and techniques designed
to make their work easier and safer.
At the 62nd annual AEA International Convention &
Trade Show, which took place March 25-28, 2019, in Palm
Springs, California, 28 companies took the time and effort to
brief their colleagues, peers and competition on their latest
offerings. From ways to meet specialized audio, video and
data communication challenges, to lightweight radios and
new ways to comply with looming equipment requirements,
and to test and support equipment, there was something for
everyone.
The annual New Products Introductions, held on the
first day of each year's show, is characterized by rapidfire presentations, well-produced multimedia and detailed
descriptions of the companies' newest offerings. If you
couldn't attend this year's event, here is a summary of each
company's presentation.
AEM Corp.
British Columbia-based AEM (Anodyne Electronics
Manufacturing Corp.) designs, develops and manufactures
aircraft safety and communication systems, and offers
comprehensive electronics manufacturing services for
emerging companies. The company is an approved supplier
to OEMs such as Airbus Helicopters, Leonardo SpA, Bell
Helicopters, Boeing Helicopters and Sikorsky, and is a contract
manufacturer for Cobham, SkyTrac, Rogerson Kratos
and others. Product lines for business,
corporate and special-mission
aircraft include loudspeaker
systems, caution/warning
panels, illuminated control
panels and keyboards,
audio warning generators
and cabin PA amplifiers. At
the 2019 AEA Convention,
AEM Corp.'s
PA amplifier,
the company announced its
the LSA100-100
newest cabin PA amplifier, the
LSA100-100.
Developed for the corporate aircraft market and included
as part of the cabin PA and in-flight entertainment system
for the Bombardier Global 7500, a TSO'd article is now
available for corporate aircraft, small commuter aircraft
and helicopter transport applications. The LSA100-100 is
suitable for new-manufacture and retrofit applications, and it
is designed for easy integration with existing cockpit audio
systems, cabin briefers, IFE and cabin speakers.

The LSA100-100 is Canadian TSO C139A approved and
complies with RTCA DO-160G environmental and DO-214A
performance standards. It has six independently adjustable
low-noise, high-efficiency outputs, each capable of providing
20-watt power. Each speaker output is controlled by a
discrete input and appropriate indicators, to allow selective
muting. It provides three prioritized inputs and generates
four distinct ARINC-standard advisory tones to annunciate
various cabin messages. Tone frequency, duration, duty
cycle, relative time, time off/on are implemented in custom
audio files while a logic network addresses tone control and
priority. Fleet configuration and customization options are

AeroLEDs
The basic light-emitting diode, or LED, has been in
consumer products like hand-held calculators since the late
1960s. But the technology's advantages over incandescent
lighting weren't fully realized until engineers figured out a
way to make an LED emitting white light.
Once they did, it was only a matter of time before the
technology's benefits found their way into aerospace
applications like the ones marketed by AeroLEDs starting
in 2006. New from the company for 2019 are replacements
for popular PAR36 14-volt incandescent lamps, an available
STC for the Pilatus PC-12 and two new
28-volt LEDs with built-in "wigwag" capability.

taxi models, both of which
were developed in response to
requests for an LED replacement
for the legacy GE 100-watt 4509
and 250-watt 4313 landing/taxi

Both are available with built-in
wig-wag capability - the 36-4313H
and -4314H models - and output 95 watts, rated at 11,000
lumens. The 36-4313/H is rated at 150,000 candela; the 364314/H at 50,000. Both carry FAA/PMA approval.
AeroLEDs also announced the Sunspot PCX, an STC'd
kit designed to upgrade the lighting on the Pilatus PC-12.
The Sunspot PCX for the PC-12 includes two landing LEDs,
one taxi LED and the appropriate Mil-Spec connectors to
