a surprise that Thommen's new Stratotimer Advanced
Multifunction Aircraft
Chronograph is a featurerich cockpit timepiece
available in two sizes:
3ATI and 2ATI. For
example, it has a state-ofthe-art, high-resolution
TFT multifunction
display featuring
sunlight readability and
combining three digital

The display can be
dimmed manually or set to use ambient light, and nightvision system compatibility (NVIS green and red) is an
available option. A single user-friendly knob sets the desired
time or date, with advanced settings options like selectable
color schemes available from a menu. The Stratotimer can be
synchronized with GPS via its ARINC 429 interface, and the
3ATI version accepts S-video input for displaying airborne
camera imagery.
The Stratotimer can be installed on new aircraft or used
to retrofit older aircraft - it can easily replace older devices
like the ADS Transicoil/Astrotech LC-90/LC-90SR clocks
without major changes to the instrument panel or the aircraft
electrical installation. It exceeds DO-160G test results and
complies with DO-254 DAL-D, DO-178C DAL-D. The
company noted that STC options for installation will be
available soon.

Trans-Cal Industries
"One of the great things about coming to the AEA event
is the ability to talk to you folks who work out in the field
and use the products and pick your brains as to what we can
do to make your jobs a little easier," Trans-Cal Industries
President John Ferrero told the AEA Convention. "Last
year, I had quite a few people stop by and ask about serial
data testers, So, for that, this year we've come up with the
SDD-100, which is a serial data display and tester. It's a
small hand-held unit, it looks a lot like many of our test sets
- it has a rugged case, very lightweight, easy to use, fits in a
toolbox," he added.

Trans-Cal's SDD-100 displays

uses standard D-Sub connectors.
It comes preconfigured for TransCal's SSD120-(XX)N-RS232 and
TCI SSD120-35C-RS232 altitude
digitizers/encoders, plus the ACK A30.9.
With additional harnesses, instructions

The SDD-100 uses a bright multicolor touchscreen LCD
display, includes LED activity indicators and is powered
by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It comes with a USB
charging power supply and cable and select jumper harnesses,
plus a protective silicone boot. The unit is housed in an ABS
case measuring 6.72 inches long by 3.45 inches wide and
1.26 inches thick. It weighs 12 ounces.
"I want you guys to come by and play with this thing,
because it's a direct result of AEA last year that it exists,"
Ferrero said. "We're looking to add some features to it,
and I've already gotten some good feedback on some
stuff to add."

Trig Avionics
Trig Avionics CEO Andy Davis started his company
in 2004. A new generation of Mode S transponders were
required to meet a Europe-wide mandate, and he combined
his skills as an entrepreneur and a pilot to produce a solidstate, energy-efficient solution, the TT31. Today, the company
offers a mix of communications radios, nav/comms, audio
panels, GPS components and transponders, including one for
unmanned aircraft systems. Davis formally introduced Trig's
newest offerings: the TX56A and TX57A nav/comm family.
"The TX56A nav/comm is a significant addition to our
product family," he told attendees at the AEA Convention.
"Pilots can now install an entire Trig stack in their aircraft.
Our avionics offer the best mix of quality, features and value.
We aim to start first customer shipments of our nav/comm
later this summer."
The TX56A/57A line comes in a case 1.3 inches (33
mm) high, helping it squeeze into tight avionics stacks.
