fun, he earned his private pilot license while building or
refining experimental planes including a pair of Sonexs,
two RVs and a couple of Lancairs.
Married in 2008 with a mortgage and two children
in their future, he transitioned from personal training to
highly detailed custom manufacturing on million dollar
buses. It was good preparation for opening Aerosecure
Avionics at Glendale Airport in 2015, 20 miles northwest
of Phoenix.
"I wasn't planning to do avionics even though that
was my background," he said. "I was flying businessmen
around the country in their planes. However, it didn't take
long to realize I preferred working on the maintenance
side. I had the experience and background and got FAA
signoffs to take the oral and practical A&P exams."
At that time, there wasn't formal certification for

avionics technicians, although the Aircraft Electronics
Association has worked closely with the Federal Aviation
Administration to change that recently.
Working for the Army, Boeing and MD Helicopters,
Snider got lots of training on maintenance, practices and
procedures, which gave him a strong foundation.
"I didn't know much about general aviation avionics,
so I started reading the manuals," he said. "In the
military, you aren't building harnesses from scratch or
integrating custom systems since everything's already
in place. I learned by doing, talked with other avionics
techs and visited different shops when I couldn't figure
something out."
To grow his business, he knew he would need a Part
145 certificate from the FAA to maintain, inspect and alter
aircraft for avionics.
"Getting a Part 145 certificate isn't easy," he said.
"There's a ton of stuff you have to know and set up. A
friend who has inspection authorization status helped me
