GENESYS AEROSYSTEMS received supplemental type
certification for its avionics suite utilizing the IDU-680 and supporting sensors in the Leonardo TH-119. According to the
company, this STC also certifies the TH-119 for single-pilot IFR
operations. The TH-119 is the only single-engine helicopter in
decades to meet current IFR requirements, allowing pilots to
operate the aircraft safely in low-visibility and challenging weather conditions, thanks to advanced avionics by the Genesys
Aerosystems IDU-680 and redundant helicopter flight systems.
The Genesys configuration certified on the TH-119
includes four IDU-680 displays in a dual-sided PFD/MFD format with dual redundant ADAHRS, dual GPS/FMS, dual Data
Acquisition Unit, and other supporting sensors. The Level A
certified IDU-680 is a large EFIS display that offers high-resolution LCD glass depicting 3D Synthetic Vision, Highway-inthe-Sky, Enhanced HTAWS, Integrated FMS, Hover Vector,
and many more features.

PILOTSAFETY.ORG announced that Gary Dale Reeves of
Decatur, Texas, was named the 2019 National Certificated Flight
Instructor of the Year. Reeves is an ATP and Master CFI with
more than 7,500 hours (mostly instruction given) in over 50 types of aircraft from
Cessna 172s to Beech 1900s.
Reeves is founder and chief safety officer of PilotSafety.org, an organization he
created in 2013 to reduce general aviation
accidents by offering free and low-cost
training programs. He now specializes in

single-pilot IFR using autopilots, GPS and
electronic flight bag software.
In 2016, he created Master Flight Training to provide threeday Mastering Single-Pilot IFR programs for pilots who fly with
Avidyne or Garmin glass cockpits. In the past three years, he
has given this training to more than 60 pilots in 24 states involving 26 different aircraft models.
Reeves is the official national training provider for both
Avidyne and Genesys Aerosystems.

Sandia Aerospace
SANDIA AEROSPACE unveiled the SI-11X Electronic
Course Deviation Indicator at AirVenture Ohskosh.
According to the company, the SI-11X Electronic Course
Deviation Indicator is a panel-mounted device that displays
lateral and vertical needles from a typical navigation receiver
or GPS navigator. The noncertified SI-11X CDI is intended
for the experimental aircraft market.
All information is displayed on a color 3.5-inch diagonal
LCD display in traditional aerospace symbology. The SI-11X
displays left/right course deviation for VOR, ILS or GPS and
vertical deviation for ILS or GPS. The SI-11X also displays
four annunciations, Nav or VLOC, GPS and Back Course.
The company noted that the SI-11X will interface with virtually all VOR and GPS navigation units. The SI-11X mounts
in a 3 1/8-inch standard instrument hole and is an ideal
replacement for mechanical instruments.

PIC WIRE & CABLE, a division of The Angelus Corp.,
launched its new CAT7 Ethernet DataMATES cables. According
to the company, PIC's CAT7 cables deliver 10G data performance
in rugged environments that require low-loss interconnect solutions that are also lightweight and flexible.
CAT7 cables are used in military and civil data applications,
from airplanes and helicopters to land vehicles and mobile shelters.
Cables are designed to meet performance requirements for highspeed data applications, including cabin management systems,
Ethernet backbones, computers, servers and low-skew video.
The company added that its new CAT7 cables offer 10G performance at 600 MHz, the highest frequency available for 10G
Ethernet speeds.
