At the time he completed the panel upgrade, Eichhorn said his was the first and only Bonanza with tripple Dynon SkyView HDX
touchscreen displays. The completed panel not only gives the globe-trotting pilot great capabilities and redundancy, it also saved 65
pounds of weight giving him the ability to carry 10 additional gallons of avgas.

Ron Timmermans, who owned a V35 Bonanza. I really liked
the airplane a lot.
"I finally found a nice V-tail in Jacksonville, Florida, that
looked like a very good airplane. I didn't know anything
about buying an airplane. I didn't do a pre-buy. I took the
seller's word that it only had four previous owners - I learned
later that it actually had 26 owners and suffered two gear-up
landings."
But Eichhorn quickly fell in love with the V-tail. When he
got it home, he immediately started a laundry list of upgrades
and improvements that would ultimately end up in Eichhorn
disassembling and rebuilding the Bonanza lock, stock and
barrel.
Throughout each step of the process, unlike many owners,
his goals were not to create a "hangar queen," but an airplane
that he could use to fly wherever his dreams took him. Which,

in his case, would ultimately include a series of increasingly
longer-distance flights all culminating in his around-the-world
trip in the spring of 2016.
Before Eichhorn set out on his globe-trotting adventure, he
knew he had to make significant upgrades to the Bonanza's
engine.
"About six months before my global trip, I realized I had
Continental channel chrome cylinders, and I was burning a
quart of oil every two hours," Eichhorn said. "So on my long
15- and 17-hour legs, I would run out of engine oil before
I ran out of gas. In addition, during a borescope inspection,
I found that my No. 2 cylinder had cracked, so I made the
decision to do a top overhaul on the engine.
"Along with overhauling all of the various components,
I got rid of the factory cylinders and switched to Superior
Millennium Cylinders. I had been looking at them for a
long time and liked their engineering and the quality of their
manufacturing. They have performed flawlessly to this day.
The Millennium Cylinders have certainly earned my trust."
