Baker Proud Spring 2017 - 17

BAKER PROUD | Spring 2017

Doug Barth, '91, director of alumni relations, hosted several events during the
trip to Daytona. Hundreds of Baker alumni
traveled to watch the Wildcats compete in
the National Championship.

Baker President Lynne Murray thanks
Rick Quattrini, '75, for providing
fresh lobster for the pregame tailgate
attended by hundreds of Baker alumni
and students.

"It was a great trip, particularly because of the number of fans
that showed up. It was fun to see how many people actually care
and still feel like it is a family organization. More than 100 Baker
alums and students met up on Friday and Saturday night, which
was awesome. Everyone coming together and reminiscing, as
well as partaking in Baker chants, was something special. I have
never been a part of something like that."
						-Dom Reiske, '14

Family and friends of Baker football players attended
the game in droves. Senior wide receiver Quanzee
Johnson even saw himself smiling in the stands after
an autumn in which he set the Baker record for most
receiving yards in a season with 1,134.

"I made the trip to Daytona because I wanted
to support our team at the National Championship. It was important to be down there
because you never know when an opportunity like that will come up again. When you're
only in college four years, you want every
opportunity you get to support and be a part
of something amazing for your school. I also
went to the women's basketball championship
last year. As a sports media major, seeing
the hype and excitement surrounding two
completely different national championships
is amazing and an awesome experience for a
possible future career. Cheering on the athletes and friends you see every day around
campus helps bring the fans much closer
together. Seeing my friends and classmates
make it to that athletic level and stage is an
awesome experience."

-Bailey Conklin, Baker senior

Daytona
Midwestern winters, flight delays,
flat tires-nothing can stop Baker pride.

Thank you for taking this historic journey with your
fellow Wildcats.
