Pinning Praise

rosty temperatures didn't stand a chance
against the warm hearts in Grace Episcopal Cathedral on Dec. 16, the night of Baker's Winter
Pinning Ceremony for the School of Nursing.
Thirty-one Baker graduates received their pins and were
officially welcomed into the nursing profession during
the beautiful and symbolic ceremony.
Remarkably,
100 percent of
the graduates
passed their
Nursing Council
Licensure Exam
(NCLEX) on the
first attempt,
which, of course,
again puts Baker
University School of Nursing atop the state. Of the 31
graduates, 26 had received full-time job offers before
Dr. Bernadette Fetterolf, dean of the School of Nursing,
presented the graduates their diplomas.
The ceremony was highlighted by several award winners and student speakers. Tiffany Clark was awarded
the class's
"Dinnertime was not the best highest honor,
time to discuss your clinical the Outstanding Student in
at the wound center."

for clinical excellence; and Clark, Whitt, Allison Russell,
and Kaitlyn Enochs were recognized by the Who's Who
Among American Universities publication for their academic excellence.

Amanda Gromer addressed
the audience, which included
hundreds of Baker alumni and
friends, as the December Class
of 2016 representatives. In addition to her awards, Clark earned
the biggest laugh of the evening when she told those
assembled that "dinnertime was not the best time to
discuss your clinical at the wound center."
The spring School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony
is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on May 19 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral in Topeka. Alumni are encouraged
to attend.

New Partnership
with Sporting KC

aker University is pleased to announce a partnership with Sporting Kansas City for the 2017
Major League Soccer season. On April 9, the
hometown professional soccer club will host
Baker University Night at Children's Mercy Park, an
event aimed at attracting students to Baker's new Master of Science in Sports Management program. During
the event, prospective candidates will get an exclusive
look behind the scenes of one of America's marquee
soccer brands. Baker students will visit with Sporting
KC executives, tour the stadium, sit in the suites, and
take group photographs on the field-all while learning
about Baker's
