A Message from
the Director of
Alumni Relations
Dear Alumni,
Typically, we do our best to avoid "old news" when
bringing you this magazine. We try to keep you current-to write stories that cover people from our past
doing big things in the present-or sometimes, in the
case of our young alums, the future.
But sometimes, you just have to look back. Relive an
old glory. Revel in it.
Such is the case with our cover story, aptly titled
"BTID." In this feature and photo essay, we revisit the
football team's historic trip to the NAIA National Championship game, where hundreds of alumni descended
on Daytona, Florida, as well as reflect on the women's
soccer team's trip to the Fab Four. Thousands of you
plugged in for this stretch of greatness, and it's our
pleasure to commemorate it for you in the Spring 2017
Baker Proud.
Elsewhere in the magazine you'll read about our
thriving Exercise Science program, which is the first
fully accredited program of its kind in Kansas; Davy
Phillips, our women's soccer coach and two-time
Baker alumnus; and Baker alumni who work in professional sports. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys, New York
Knicks, National Football League, Daytona Speedway,
Minnesota Timberwolves, and National Hockey League
all have Baker orange fingerprints on them.
On page 24, you'll see the rundown for this spring's
Alumni Weekend, May 19-21. Interest is pouring in
for the Wildcat Classic Golf Tournament on Friday, so
