a pre-meeting set of training sessions
on biodiversity informatics tools for
our African colleagues, and symposia
on capacity building, conservation,
and citizen science. Recordings of key
symposia were made by iDigBio and

Of note this past year, has been an update to our infrastructure
including our wiki and a new GitHub repository. We are also
currently considering revisions/updates to the governance of
TDWG to address issues that come with being a successful
and growing international body. We are also attempting to
define a process for updating and maintaining our standards
along with better documentation with more detailed definitions and examples to aid users in implementing our standards. If you are interested in biodiversity standards, I would
urge you to sign up for the TDWG-content mailing list as this
is where the core discussion on standards takes place.
As I continue to stress: "The standards being evaluated by
TDWG, and the applications that implement them, have
a direct impact on many SPNHC members involved with
specimen data capture and curation." Thus, I would suggest
participating in the many topical Interest and Task Groups
found on the TDWG wiki. Finally, TDWG is making a strong
effort to expand its base membership and I would encourage
anyone who has interest in standards and informatics tools to
join.
The 2016 meeting will be held in Santa Clara de San Carlos,
Costa Rica, from December 5-9, with the theme Standards
Supporting Innovation in Biodiversity Research and Conservation. Please join us!
