Announcements metadata resource for biodiversity collections, the institutions that contain them, and associated staff members. The registry provides contact and address information, characteristics of the institutions and collections using controlled vocabularies and free-text descripitons, links to related websites, unique identifiers for each institution and collection record, text fields for loan and use policies, and a variety of other descriptors. Each institution record includes an "institutionCode" that must be unique, and each collection record must have a "collectionCode" that is unique within that institution. The registry is populated with records imported from the largest similar registries and more can be harmonized and added. Doing so will require community input and curation and would produce a truly comprehensive and unifying information resource.         Imaged: 25mm long minnow with ingested shell. As such, we are working on trying to be more inclusive and increase the value of the citations by making them more accessible to anyone interested in care and preservation of natural history specimens. in the last six months), continues with these "highlights" in the newsletter, and our more detailed version in a PDF on the website, thereby maintaining a published listing as requested. Highlights of this bi-annual gathering describe the importance of collections and natural history, needs for curation, digitization, conservation and archive efforts, and projects associated with natural history museums. Check them out at http://www.spnhc.org/80/citations. As citations are gathered, we annotate them with statements summarizing highlights in order to call attention to more important aspects of the articles (or cautions about possibly outdated information that may be included), and also to aid in searches. We hope this increases the value of the citations listings by making them more accessible, and assists in finding the most up-to-date practices (as well as maintaining a resource to check for past techniques/ thoughts) to anyone interested in care and preservation of natural history specimens. We hope you find some useful publications among the listings on the SPNHC website. Our tradition of a published bi-annual gathering and reporting of citations (what has been published or gathered Respectfully Submitted, Margaret Landis, Citations Subcommittee Chair Are you interested in helping the SPNHC Citations Subcommittee?
