Use of the Collections: Authorization to visit the scientific
collection by the CNMA staff implies the user accepts the
conditions for access to biological materials and information.
Additional details may be found here: https://cnmaib.wordpress.com. The user agrees to accept the requirements stipulated and will acknowledge the CNMA in any academic product (thesis, technical report or publication) derived from the
use of the collection. The user is also requested to provide a
list of publications resulting in the use of mammal specimens
of CNMA and to cite CNMA in the acknowledgments as: National Collection of Mammals (CNMA), Institute of Biology,
National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico City.
The biological materials, their derivatives and the information
associated with the specimens housed in the CNMA are considered patrimony of the National Autonomous University of
Mexico. Use of these materials are granted to the researcher
as a loan to satisfy exclusively the academic research needs
of their application. No person may dispose of the material or
transfer material to third parties without the written approval
of the curator of the CNMA.
Violators of this ordinance will be placed on a public violator
registry which lists the violation and is accessible through the
CNMA website. The violator will remain on the register until
there is a resolution. The Internal Council of the Institute of
Biology, UNAM, will consult the CNMA curator and determine the corresponding infringement and its duration.
Institution Campus
The CNMA facilities are located in the Sports Circuit at the
University City campus, south of México City, and are accessible by bus and metro. Campus and local signs direct to the
main building of IBUNAM, where CNMA is located on the
ground floor. Parking is available adjacent to the IBUNAM.

Consultation Services
CNMA is available for regulated consultation for research,
teaching and dissemination of knowledge purposes, in accordance with the guidelines indicated in Chapter XI of the
Internal Regulations of IBUNAM (Instituto de Biología,
UNAM, 2005). The Curator-in-charge of the CNMA, Fernando A. Cervantes, is responsible for the management and
maintenance of the collection with the assistance of academic
technicians (collection managers).

CNMA plays an important role in the advancement of the

knowledge about mammal biodiversity in México. The
CNMA holds annual courses on the biology of Mexican
mammals. CNMA also provides guided tours to student
groups. CNMA staff is readily available to provide students
the necessary information to fulfill those purposes.
