SPNHC member for a profile feature. The committee would
be happy to hear from anyone with connections in future
SPNHC Annual Meeting locations who can help us widen the
membership reach of the Society. In the coming year we will
be reviewing membership categories with a view to introducing a "retired" membership category. Please contact Tiffany
if you have suggestions or comments on this subject. We will
be working with other committees to develop ways to support
and mentor new SPNHC members. As always, please encourage your colleagues to join SPNHC, and remember to renew
your membership on time!

Professional Development Committee
The main areas the Professional Development Committee has been working
on this winter are in helping organize
Travel Grant mentees and mentors for
the New Zealand conference, organizing a more general mentorship program
for SPNHC members, and helping to
organize the upcoming DemoCamp for
New Zealand.
The deadline for the 2018 meeting
travel grant applications is March 12,
2018.

Beginning with Collection Forum,
I want to thank Matt Brown for his
service to the society as an Associate
Editor, and we are pleased to introduce
Scott Rufolo as our newest Associate
Editor. Scott is a Research Assistant and
Archaeological collections manager
from the Canadian Museum of Nature.
He has volunteered to come on board, and we look forward
to working with him in the future. Yemisi Dare has been
the best in helping me with the transition and I am forever
grateful! We are striving to continue the tradition of producing high-quality content for Collection Forum. I also want to
acknowledge Janet Waddington and the SPNHC Connection
team (Liath Appleton, Katie McComas, Lori Schlenker, Lynn
Jones, and Ann Pinzl). The Publications Committee has been
hard at work trying to get different publications out for the
society.
Progress continues for the book, Preventive Conservation:
Collection Storage, and the anticipated publication date for
the book is sometime this year. The estimated cost of the 30
chapter book with over 60 contributing authors is still $95.

Publications Committee
This is my first report, and I want to begin by acknowledging
Christine Johnson for all of her time and dedication as the
chair of the Publications Committee. In the brief time that I
have assumed this role, I can tell you that it takes a lot of hard
work to keep everything going. My first report will be brief,
but I want to say how excited I am to serve the society in this
capacity!

Recognition and Grants Committee
The Recognition and Grants Committee is charged with promoting and reviewing the various awards that the Society can
confer in recognition of a member's service, vendor recognition, and the Faber Research Grant as well.
