Mike Miller Presented
Crop Insurance Industry
Lifetime Achievement Award
Mike Miller, who retired after spending nearly
40 years in the crop insurance industry, received
a Crop Insurance Industry Lifetime Achievement
Award during the 2017 Crop Insurance Industry
Annual Convention. The convention was held
February 5-8 in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Prior to entering the crop insurance industry,
Mike was a high school teacher and basketball
coach. In 1974, he joined Blakely Crop Hail as a
claims supervisor and field-man. In 1989, he was
named President, and served in that position until 1999. During Mike's tenure at Blakely, he was
a board member of National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS) and American Association of Crop
Insurers (AACI). As members of these organizations, he testified before the House and Senate
Agriculture Committees in Washington, D.C. In
addition, he was a keynote speaker at various International Agricultural Insurance Seminars.
Mike founded Heartland Crop Insurance, Inc.
(HCI) in 2000, and with the help and assistance
of many talented and dedicated people, HCI
grew into a notable MPCI crop insurance writer.
Mike earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Fort Hays State University (KS), and
he and his wife, Ronda, have two daughters and
four grandchildren. Mike's passions include golf,
hunting, fishing, watching his grandchildren play
sports and keeping up with the many personal
friendships he has developed over the years.
