Mike Mills Receives
Crop Insurance Industry
Leadership Award
Mike Mills, Rural Community Insurance
Services, was presented with the 2017 Crop Insurance Industry Leadership Award at the 2017
Crop Insurance Industry Annual Convention. 
This award is given to individuals who are directly involved in the crop insurance industry and
who consistently serve the industry by providing
outstanding leadership through NCIS committees. The Convention was held February 5-8 in
Bonita Springs, Florida.
Mike is a member of the NCIS Northwest
Regional/State Crop Insurance Committee and
works for Rural Community Insurance Services.
The NW committee holds regular meetings and
is active in evaluating and bringing forth recommendations for both the private crop-hail and
federal crop insurance programs. Mike works
primarily with crop-hail insurance and is instrumental in recognizing areas for improvement,
but he is probably most recognized for his support of NCIS sponsored adjuster schools. Mike is
a mainstay at schools held by the NW Regional/
State Crop Insurance committee and he is also
valued by the Montana Regional/State Crop Insurance Committee for his contributions to their
schools.
NCIS is currently field testing an alternative
weight method appraisal procedure for lentils.
Mike has been at the forefront gathering data
and educating the committee on his findings.
He has made presentations on the procedure at
committee meetings and NCIS adjuster schools.

Without Mike's efforts, NCIS would not have adequate information to make decisions regarding
the alternate procedure. He has truly gone above
and beyond.
One would be remiss without speaking about
Mike's contributions to numerous industry adjuster schools. Mike exhibits a level of enthusi-

asm and preparedness that makes attendees glad
they attended. His sessions never fail to exceed
expectations, no matter the topic. Whether he's
asked to make a classroom presentation or be a
plot leader in the field, he's second to none.
