NCIS Celebrates
Silver Anniversary

Twenty-five years ago, in February 1989, crop insurance history was made as the Crop Hail
Insurance Actuarial Association
(CHIAA) and the National
Crop Insurance Association
(NCIA) united to form what we
know today as National Crop
Insurance Services (NCIS).
The Beginning
CHIAA and NCIA had
been serving the crop insurance industry under other
named associations since the
early 1900s. CHIAA's focus
was providing Crop-Hail
premium rates and forms
for the Crop-Hail industry while NCIA provided
Crop-Hail loss adjustment
procedures, conducted industry training and maintained the CropHail industry's agronomic research program
that has been in place since the early 1900s.
