The Santa Monica Historical Museum hosted this special exhibit of Shirley Temple dolls and other memorabilia. Highlighting the exhibit were her original movie costumes, often paired with the dolls in original matching costumes. The story of the doll's creation between Ideal founder, Morris Michtom; mother, Gertrude Temple; and Fox Studios; the design process by Bernard Lipfert; costume and accessory design and manufacturing process in the Ideal factory was presented in the exhibition signage and brochure which featured essays by prominent Shirley Temple authors Rita Dubas, Tonya Bervaldi-Camaratta, Tyler Colbaugh and Edward Pardella. A special tea party was held on Shirley's birthday with her family in attendance as well as Shirley's Army, the group established to promote Shirley Temple's legacy. The five-week exhibit was a celebration in honor of the original Shirley Temple doll, and all things Shirley Temple. Shirley's "Baby Take A Bow" costume was displayed with her own "Little Colonel" doll.
