A few female dolls are dressed in everyday street or normal wear. Dress for males can be used for either a special occasion or street wear. It does not change with the occasion. Plus, some ethnic groups distinguish between married and single women like the "Kuchi" (or "nomad") ethnic group whose females wear reversed colors to indicate if they are married or single. Other ethnic groups of women will wear bright colors and white veils to indicate their single status. Some women will wear subdued or darker colors and a black veil to indicate their married status. The HDP is attempting to bring hope to some women by using their handcrafting skills productively while the HDP still respects the traditional or formal social rules for these women that govern almost all of Afghanistan.
