Two guests admire one of the many beautiful dolls on display at UFDC's Doll Museum. Open House guests listened intently as Loretta Nardone shared a program about Dewees Cochran and Bradley Justice presented a program about the Designers of Barbie. program about the designers of the "Barbie" doll, followed by a walkthrough of the Carol Spencer "Barbie" Collection housed in the UFDC Doll Museum. Doll artist and costumer, Alice Leverett stopped by to introduce some exciting upcoming events at the museum surrounding "Madeleine de Baine," a special doll in the museum's collection. President Janet Gula was also available to share her expertise in the history and costuming of many of the dolls on exhibit at this time. Friday evening NADDA opened its doors at the nearby Embassy Suites Kansas City so visitors could shop early. Saturday morning offered two programs Alice Leverett shared exciting future symposium at the NADDA show presented by NADDA members and workshop plans for the UFDC Doll Museum. (also UFDC members). Margaret Gray Kincaid gave a program about the beautiful dolls created and costumed by Madame Huret, sharing her special Huret wardrobe once belonging to beloved children's author/illustrator Tasha Tudor's grandmother. Lynn Murray followed with a fascinating visual journey of the doll museums of Germany. Rachel Hoffman, Ruby Lane Doll Marketing Specialist, visited the UFDC Open House Sunday morning and filmed "live" a series of wonderful videos produced by Rubylane.com. Viewers on Ruby Lane's Facebook page could interact in "real time," and they were shared across the globe.
