Cover of the Billiken magazine (Billiken advertised as - "the magazine for the children.") welcomes the New Year 1938. These photographs appear in the February 1937 issue of the Marilú magazine. Beautiful scenes of " Cinderella" where all the actors in their beautiful costumes are represented by the "Marilú" dolls in the windows of the Marilú shop in Florida Street. We can thank Jacqueline Lynn Murtha and her father for this wonderful addition to our studies as doll collectors. I treasure my own collection of "Marilús" and am sure that others who have discovered them are grateful for theirs as well. Special thanks to: Gwendolyn Shire Roberta Marshall Note: When the "Marilú" doll and trunk included in the Estate of Jacqueline and David Canon were auctioned off in Conway, South Carolina, after Jacqueline's death, they were tragically sold separately. The doll was wearing a creamy yellow skirt and blouse with a dark vest, straw hat, original signed shoes and crochet gloves. All efforts have been made to reunite the doll with her belongings, but without success. One can only hope that they may come together again sometime in the future, Lynn would appreciate any information about the doll's whereabouts. Please contact the author at markrisveils@charter.net. Marilú magazine, February 1937, advertised the summer fashions for little girls by Marilú creations. DOLL NEWS * UFDC.ORG 91http://ufdc.org
