Three Caballeros is the 1944 Walt Disney feature film made as a goodwill message for South America during World War II. Though several samples of these dolls have emerged over the years, and there is no information naming Kallus as the designer, his influence is evident, and they have been attributed to him. As the film was not a big hit and toy manufacturing was at a standstill, it is possible that these are prototypes. Their intricate and heavy construction is similar to the prototype "Bambi," and they must have been very expensive to produce. "Josè Carioca" is the cigar-smoking parrot who represented Brazil. "Panchito" is the pistol-packing rooster who represented Mexico. (Two samples of this doll are represented here.) From the Three Caballeros feature cartoon is "Donald Duck" representing the American in Disney's musical tale of good will. DOLL NEWS * uFDc.Org 139http://www.uFDc.Org
