Model 103 is theorized to be Karin
again as an older child. This is a very
rare doll as very few are known to
exist. The one pictured is quite unique
in being a brown-eyed version. Of
the other model 103 dolls known at
this time, all have the blue eyes and
measuring 23.5 inches is slightly taller
than the standard 22-inch size of the
other known examples.
The 104 could be yet another
portrait of Karin but with a turned up
nose and a less soft face, but it is not
known for sure. The brother and sister
pictured here measure 19.5 inches and
have been together for so long that
they needed to stay as a pair. Like
model 103, model 104 is a very rare
mold number and was produced only
in the one size.
The 105 model, also might be Karin
again at age 5, but at this point that
is just speculation. The one pictured
here is an outstanding example, and
it remains one of the rarest dolls of
the series. The realistic and detailed
modeling makes this scarce doll so
desirable.
The model 106 has recently been
identified as a portrait of LewinFuncke's nephew, Heinz Burkowitz. As
a child his daughter, Karin, had a model
106 which she named "Heinz," and the
doll has a striking similarity to a bust of
Heinz as a child by Lewin-Funcke from
1908 that was unknown in the art world
until 1991. This is another very rare doll
to find with an adorable and endearing
chubby face. Certainly representing
a younger child than all the previous
molds except the model 100.
The model 107 has been discussed
with the 102 above, leading up to the
highly coveted model 108. There is
only one known example of this model.
She is a large 25 inches and represents
an older child than the mold numbers
before her. This fabulous doll justifiably
holds the world's record for the most
expensive doll ever sold!
