Over and Above Contributions to Convention:
Beverly Stoehr, Victoria Christopherson, Neal Foster

were artist dolls, teddy bears and miniatures of all
kinds as well, and supplies for sewing including
patterns, antique and vintage fabrics, lace, ribbon,
and other trims.
Thursday was another fun-filled day with
more ticketed meal events; a ticketed
fundraiser with convention doll artist,
Helen Kish; reveal of the AV contest winners
programs, more outstanding programs by
well-recognized authorities in their fields, and
finally the much awaited opening of the Special
Exhibits. There were seven this year. "Dolls with
Wardrobes part 2," "Toy Shop Windows Through
the Eyes of a Child," "Les Petits Bébés Français,"
ais,"
"Presenting
Presenting Miss Ethel Newcome," "For Love of
Disney," "The Native Art of the Florida Seminole
Indians," and "Works of Helen Kish, this year's
Souvenir Doll Artist."
This was also the day for awarding and winning
ribbons - blue, red, white, green, and gold, as
judges went to work examining each entry to
determine the most deserving entries in each of the
categories. Donelle Denery and Marsha
Hunter served as Chairpersons of Judges,
Diane Vourderis, Chairperson of Clerks; and
Evelyn Reed, Chairperson of Monitors. The
doors of the Competitive Exhibit, co-chaired
by Sherry Minton and Sue Nile, opened
to reveal the wonderful treasures in this
year's competition with 175 categories filled
with hundred of dolls. This competition
is designed to be a learning experience for
everyone so Highlight Tours were offered to
explain the many fine points of the winning
dolls. Competition is always keen, but

"Lunch and Learn"
Luncheon

The "Lunch and Learn" Luncheon featuring the"Dolls of
Dewees Cochran," was sponsored by ReAL Services with
Barbara Stone as speaker. Each attendee received a copy of
Dewees Cochran's autobiography, As If They Might Speak.

An Afternoon with
Ethel Newcome was

a ticketed fundraiser
benefitting the UFDC
Museum. The program
was presented by
Elizabeth Ann Coleman,
Andy Ourant and Susan
Foreman. For a closer
look and study the event
continued in the exhibit
room where this famous
doll was on display
during the convention.
