A completely unexpected plastic doll
named "Roy Rogers," was offered in1955.
It was a diversion from the frills and
lace of the storybook characters. He had
holsters, guns, and two changes of outfits
from "Rodeo" to "Roundup."

artist and manufacture of dolls,
has stepped into the Nancy Ann
Storybook Doll arena.
What will Robert Tonner bring
to this name next?
From 1956 to 1958, two sizes of "Baby Sue Sue"
were available, the 10-inch and the 8-inch size.
This basic vinyl baby doll came dressed in a
flannel diaper, with socks, shoes and a nursing
bottle. Numerous outfits were available for the
larger size, from christening dresses to sweaters
and robes, often with a nursing bottle, pacifier or a
rattle. By 1958, the 8-inch size changed to rootedhair and fewer outfits were offered.
Mr. Bourla produced the
"Fairyland Dolls" series in
vinyl imported from Hong
Kong, as well as a series
of "Storybook and Muffie/
Around the World" series
of dolls. The slogan "Ask
Mother who owned one"
was included in various
packaging.
