As the 20th century moved forward, technology and materials led to the use of sheet metal for doll houses which were furnished with plastic pieces. These included pieces for the laundry room. Companies such as Marx, Renwal, Ideal and many others would make highly-detailed plastic washers. The 1950's and 1960's also brought us key-wind toy washers and battery-operated washers that used real running water such as "Suzy Homemaker's" machine.
