Club Notes The Sacramento Pioneer Doll Club Celebrated their 55th Birthday Sacramento Pioneer Doll Club members celebrating the club's 55th birthday T Members enjoyed the 55th birthday cake. 136 SUMMER 2020 he Sacramento Pioneer Doll Club of Region 2 North was started with twenty-five doll collectors from eight Northern California Counties, with the first official meeting on October 1, 1964. Charter club members included Patty Marchal, who later became the first Region 16 Director, and Wanda Ramus, whose grand doll house was donated and displayed in a museum nearby. Their first slide program was "Bonnet Dolls." The club also hosted Regional Conferences for Region 2 (both Region 2 North and Region 2 South, since all California was one region back then). One of the best of these events featured a souvenir doll made by Sherman Smith representing the doll owned by Patty Reed (of Donner Party fame). The original Patty Reed's Doll has been displayed at the Smithsonian Institution but otherwise resides in Sutter's Fort in Sacramento, California. So here we are 55 years later. Included in our membership are three past Regional Directors, a past convention event coordinator and the current First Vice President of UFDC.
