ABO Report

The College
The ABO and the College (CDABO) continue
to collaborate on an ABO advocacy program
with the goal of reaching out and encouraging
ABO certification at all orthodontic residency
programs. All 72 orthodontic programs have at
least one volunteer advocate assigned to their
school. In addition, the new role of Resident
Representative has been established, allowing
for enhanced communication between the advocate and residents.

The ABO presented the following recognition
awards during the 2017 AAO Annual Session
meeting in San Diego:

Graduation Orthodontic Residents Program
(GORP)
The ABO attended the 2017 GORP meeting in
Cleveland, OH. Dr. Chun-Hsi Chung gave a presentation to the residents on board certification and
answered questions.

The ABO featured cases from the year's
Clinical Examination in the ABO Case Display
room. An ABO informational booth was located
outside of the exhibit hall and displayed ABO
educational materials available to board certified
orthodontists.

The ABO Directors for the 2017-2018 year are as

The ABO conducted an Advocacy Workshop at
the meeting, which was well attended by orthodontic faculty and ABO advocates.

The AAO House of Delegates confirmed Dr. Jae
Hyun Park as the new ABO Director representing
PCSO.

The ABO served as a moderator for the 2017 AAO
Resident College Bowl, with participating schools
including the University of Southern California
and the University of Washington.
ABO Attends 2017 Annual Session of Chinese
Orthodontic Society Meeting
Drs. Chun-Hsi Chung, Nicholas Barone, and
Steven Dugoni were honored to accept the
Chinese Orthodontic Society's invitation to be
program speakers at their meeting in Shanghai
in September 2017.
ABO Executive Director
The ABO was pleased to announce that Ms.
Carole Newport has accepted the position of ABO
Executive Director, effective January 1, 2017. Carole
held the position of ABO Operations Manager
prior to her promotion. Mrs. Chris Eisenmayer
has retired as the ABO's Executive Secretary. 
