Portrait of a Professional KO: I do volunteer on a weekly basis with the children's program at my church. I have also participated in dental mission trips to Peru and Bolivia with Kindness in Action. I also have taught English to immigrants on Saturday mornings. JP: Tell us about your involvement in PCSO. Working hard with PCSO KO: I began my involvement in PCSO as a director in 2010. After serving four years as a director and serving on numerous committees, I started the Executive Committee commitment in 2015. I am so proud to be part of PCSO. For me, it is the premier constituent organization of the AAO. Every year I get to spend many hours with some very talented individuals- exceptional people who continually push me to be a better orthodontist, a better leader, and a better person. JP: Any advice for new PCSO members? KO: Get involved, and get involved early! One of our current initiatives is to further engage younger members. As a person who did not attend a residency within PCSO, I appreciate that membership also offers a great way to connect with fellow orthodontists and make lifetime friends. Fortunately, we also have one of the best Annual Sessions / CE meetings in the country, and our voice is very active at the AAO level. There are a multitude of benefits to participating in PCSO / AAO. Kam Olfert and his family at the 2015 PCSO Annual Session in Palm Springs 24 PCSO Bulletin Winter 2017
