Class II Correction with Advansync:
Dischinger Protocol
1. Use brackets with high-tech edgewise
archwires to control incisor torque and tip of
the maxillary/mandibular incisors and molars.
2. Activate initially (based on the cuspid relationship) into a Class I cuspid relationship, bringing the skeletal midlines into alignment.
3. Achieve maximum orthopedic affect by preventing the maxillary molars from distalizing.
4. Reactivate the appliance periodically (every
two to three months).
5. Overcorrect mandibular position to a negative
overjet to account for relapse.
6. Intrude mandibular incisors and level the
maxillary and mandibular arches so that
initial contact upon AdvanSync appliance
removal is on the posterior teeth and not the
anterior teeth.
7. Take corrected tomograms prior to Herbst
placement and before Herbst removal to confirm condylar position.

With the above treatment protocol, Class II correction, full arch orthodontics, and crowding can
be handled simultaneously with the light forces
of the Damon system. In two-phase mixed dentition cases, anteroposterior dental/skeletal correction, excessive overjet, and severe crowding
are often addressed in the Phase 1 leaving a short
second phase as needed with permanent dentition. Dr. Dischinger affirms that the overall experience is often life-changing for patients. Parents
and patients report very high satisfaction levels
with this treatment protocol. It does not require
patient cooperation, and hygiene can be maintained more easily than with the bulkier Class II
correctors. Over the past three decades, Dr.
Dischinger has treated thousands of cases with
his protocol, and he has collected long-term
retention records for many. His passion and belief
in his own system protocol encouraged him to
treat himself.
