Dr. Myat (Jonny) Htut, Orthodontist
In what year did you graduate from your postgraduate orthodontic program, and how many
years have you been in practice?
I completed my orthodontic residency with Roseman University of Health Sciences in 2016 and
have been practicing orthodontics since then. I'm
currently licensed to practice dentistry in California and Nevada.

Tell us about your office.
I am fortunate to be able to work with my mentor, Dr. Hongsheng Tong. I currently work as an
associate orthodontist at his offices. He has two
practices with state-of-the-art facilities in Chino
and Riverside, California.

Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and Master of Business
Administration (MBA). In this dual degree program, we also had the opportunity to learn about
the business aspect of healthcare. The program's
MBA courses include business management,
business organization, human resources,
accounting, finance, entrepreneurial, and legal
courses. These courses are very helpful and
informative. The business seminars provided by
experts are valuable in helping us see different
aspects outside of orthodontics.

What systems/techniques have worked well for
you in private practice (TADs, indirect vs. direct
bonding, 3-D imaging, etc.)?
We use straight wire appliances, InBrace®, clear
aligners, and TADs. These systems work well for us.

What advice do you have for graduating
residents?
I recommend that residents learn as much as
possible during residency, but enjoy the experience at the same time. They should try many
different techniques and products and also give
back to the program and community after they
graduate.

Are you currently certified by the American Board
of Orthodontics (ABO)? If not, are you planning to
get certification from the ABO and if so, within
how many years?
I'm currently board eligible and planning to
obtain board certification in the future.

What do you like about AAO/PCSO benefits and
conferences?
AAO/PCSO conferences give us the opportunity
to network with the orthodontic community.
Lectures and seminars that are presented provide
valuable information.

Looking back, what has been the most positive
aspect of your residency since graduation?
The Roseman residency program is located in
Henderson, NV, which is 15 minutes from Las
Vegas. We were able to attend great seminars
and had the opportunity to network with many
brilliant individuals.

Tell us about life outside of the office.
I have two sons and a very supportive and wonderful wife. I love spending time with them. My
hobbies are making music and creating short
films. 

Do you believe the curriculum within your postgraduate orthodontic program provided sufficient
depth and breadth to prepare you for the clinical
practice of orthodontic care?
Our postgraduate orthodontic program provided
us with a solid foundation in orthodontics. We
learned different treatment methods, techniques, and appliances. We were exposed to new
technologies in clinical orthodontics as well as
research. Roseman offers an integrated 35-month
