The site is currently under construction and will have both public and members only sections. Another hot topic for the BCSO has been ethical advertising, not only for orthodontists, but also for general dentists. The BCSO annual general meeting will be held June 14, 2013 at which time the registrar for the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia will provide more information regarding advertising regulations. The British Columbia Society of Orthodontists executive for the last year has been Dr. Alexa Herbertson, President, Dr. Gina Ball, Vice-President, and Dr. Charity Siu, Secretary-Treasurer. —Dr. Gina Ball Vice-President Squamish, BC, Canada California A new look is on the horizon for CAO! In recent months, the board has been focusing on completion of the public awareness initiatives that were outlined to membership last year. Soon you will be hearing more about our newly revised website and the creation of a public website. The CAO site has been made even more contemporary and user-friendly and the new public site has been designed to promote the use of orthodontic specialists for care, provide general information on orthodontic treatment as well as help the public locate an orthodontist in their respective geographical areas. A very important part of the awareness campaign has been to create a fresh “look” for CAO. CAO developed a SUMMER 2013 • P C S O B u l l et i n new brand and incorporated it into the website, administrative materials and a new member newsletter. This newsletter will take the place of frequent eblasts that have been distributed in the past and will contain a composite look at information on upcoming events and items of interest to our membership. CAO is expanding our product line to include brochures in additional languages and a Consumer Awareness Kit. In addition to English, the “Smile, Now Let’s See Your Bite” (formerly “Bite Down Early”) and the “You and Your Orthodontist” informed consent brochure will be available in Spanish and Chinese versions. The Consumer Awareness Kit will include a poster, table tent, decals and brochures. Much more information will be coming your way on these products. The transition to DiMeo Schneider as our new investment manager was seamless and the process has been completed. The CAO Reserve and Investment Committee recommended, and the Board approved, a change in investment strategy along with the move to DiMeo to capture a greater return on investment and slightly lower management fees. CAO dues have remained level since 2007. After careful consideration, the CAO Board voted to approve a dues increase effective June 1, 2013. At that time, annual member dues will increase from $90 per member, per year to $99 per year. You will be seeing much more about all these initiatives in future editions of our newsletter, and definitely on the CAO website. —Paul Kasrovi President Berkeley, CA Washington T he WSSO officers are as follows: Dr. Jacqueline Bunce – Vice President. Our other officers are as follows: Communications Division, Dr. Jake DaBell; Legislative Division, Dr. Reid Winkler; Membership Division, Dr. Barbara Sheller; Orthodontic Practice Division, Dr. Graham Jones; and Peer Review Division, Dr. Steve Lemery. We have added two new at-large board members: Dr. Tori Matthys and Dr. Trevor Veltkamp. WSSO leadership is working hard to make sure that the orthodontists in Washington State are well represented. We are currently in the process of planning for an all-new meeting in 2014. Dr. Jacqueline Bunce and Dr. Shafeena Chatur have been instrumental in the planning process and I would like to thank both of them for doing such an excellent job. This meeting will involve a change in venue for the first time in over a decade, so please mark it down on your calendars.
