AAOF Report Dr. Terrie Yoshikane PCSO Representative to the AAO Foundation Board of Directors Abstract In response to the 2016 Awards Program, a total of 38 proposals were submitted, requesting funding of more than $1 million; the total budgeted was $745,000. The Foundation's review committee met in late January, and their recommendations were considered by the board at their meeting in late February. Of the 24 projects approved for funding, eight were from PSCO. A list of the proposals funded is on the website. The Foundation's review committee met in late January, and their recommendations were considered by the Board at their meeting in late February. decisions to allocate funds made are as follows:  Nine (9) Biomedical Research Awards, $269,937  Two (2) Center Awards, $100,200  Six (6) Orthodontic Faculty Development Fellowship Awards, $110,698  Three (3) Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards, $300,000  Four (4) Research Aid Awards, $19,995  Aggregate of $800,830  Budgeted Amount $745,000 Of the 24 projects approved for funding, eight were from PSCO. A list of the proposals funded is on the website. Please visit the AAOF website for an update on the Craniofacial Growth Legacy Collection Project. The purpose of the website is to not only preserve a representative sample of these irreplaceable materials, but also to make them available for viewing and further investigation by clinicians, craniofacial investigators, students of human growth, and interested members of the public. To date on the website, there are 16,000 total images of 752 subjects from nine participating collections. Among these participating collections is the Oregon Growth Study. This year, we are transitioning towards an online submission process that has long been in the making. Named Awards Four new AAO Foundation Named Awards have recently been created. Friends, colleagues, and admirers contributed an aggregate of $250,000 toward the establishment of these new awards:  Robert L. Boyd Biomedical Research Award  In honor of Dr. Boyd  Burstone-Indiana Biomechanics Award  In memory of the late Dr. Charles J. Burstone  Fred and Diane Garrett Biomedical Research Award  In honor of Dr. Garrett  James A. New Direction/Strategic Plan The AAOF BOD is well into the process of making an organizational assessment as we look to the future of the Foundation. One of the steps is for 18 directors , key volunteers, and an equal number of those from "outside the tent" to hold a face-toface session with an outside facilitator, to determine possible new directions.
