worked extensively with many students whose
background is in mechanical engineering. These
unique interdisciplinary collaborations have
strongly influenced his research direction, leading to interesting publications in many peerreviewed journals. Dr. Lagravere is an ad hoc
reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. He
has been an invited speaker and reviewer, specifically for research areas involving maxillary
expansion, 3-D imaging, and finite element modeling. Among many prestigious awards for his
research accomplishments, Dr. Lagravere has
received the T. M. Graber Teaching Fellowship
Award, the B. F. and Helen E. Dewel Award, and
the Harry Sicher Award.
Mentoring and working with students has been
the most gratifying experience for Dr. Lagravere.
Introducing students to the field of research and
seeing them confidently present their findings to
the scientific community brings him a great
sense of accomplishment. Besides dentistry and
orthodontics, Dr. Lagravere is a big fan of science
fiction- in particular the Star Wars series- and
he has attended many sci-fi conventions. Perhaps
his research insights stem from these boundless
creative instincts and a sincere passion for furthering science. Dr. Lagravere has made significant contributions to the field of dentistry and
orthodontics through his innovative research
ideas and a genuine interest in training the next
generation of orthodontists and researchers.
