Executive Director's Message
Continued from page 5
I hope I have learned to be a leader and not a
boss. My observation of PCSO officers and board
members- who built consensus, created a culture of excellence, set the tone of professionalism, and valued a strong Society above personal
reward- will be my role models for the rest of
my career. The PCSO staff members, including our
outside consultants, who supported one another
(and me) even when the pressure was on or the
workload heavy, taught me that no one achieves
success alone. Even if I had the energy or the
time to do it all, I never could have done so as
well as our team, with each individual bringing
his/her own special talent and skill set. They
mean so much to me, I have to name them
here- Anne, Carol, Casandra, DJ, Darrin, Doye,
Kathy, Lauri, Marlene, Sarah, and my mentor
Chris, along with PCSO editors Jerry, Jae, Pramod,
and Peter. Thank you for everything (especially
the laughs)!
President's Message
Continued from page 4
While I may be ending my term as president, I
will never stop being active in my provincial society and in PCSO. While the 2016 Annual Session
will soon be a precious memory of my time as
president, I will be around for many more PCSO

What was clear to me the first day I worked for
PCSO, when an exemplary president named Ron
Wolk treated me with such patience, respect, and
kindness, remains true today. When you work for
PCSO, you are doing more than a job; you are
gaining friends for life. They will stand by you,
they will care for you, and they will share their
lives with you. Success, failure, good ideas/bad
ideas, family joys and family sorrows, professional
challenges, and personal triumphs- we've
shared them all. Ron, Ken, Lili, Lesley, Rob, Bryan,
Ron, Frank, Bryan, and Paul: thanks for the ride! As
PCSO presidents, you rock. As friends, you are
incomparable.

Annual Sessions- and for all the great PCSO
events and activities in between those annual
meetings. In closing, thanks to all PCSO members
for the faith you have placed in me, and for making this leadership experience available to me.
I'm a better orthodontist and a better person for
having had it.
