Editorial Farewell to PCSO's Executive Director Dr. Jae Hyun Park PCSO Bulletin Editor The Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO), founded in 1912, is the largest constituent organization of the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO). Our society is constantly evolving to meet the needs and demands of our members. Ongoing initiatives are in place to help new and younger members succeed as they enter the workforce. We offer innovative and cutting-edge continuing education so that our members continue to grow as practitioners, both clinically and in business. Our society operates as a well-oiled machine, and much of this success is due to our Executive Director and AAO Director of Finance, Jill Nowak. I had a bittersweet feeling when I learned that Jill Nowak would be stepping down from her position to pursue an exciting opportunity. Jill has accepted the position of chief financial officer (CFO) of the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH), an organization that seeks to improve the health and lives of Missouri residents through a multifaceted approach to programs, policy and partnerships. Some specific aims of the foundation are to prevent childhood obesity, increase health insurance coverage- including access to oral health care- and reduce infant mortality. As CFO, Jill will lead an expansion of facilities for MFH, direct grants management, oversee a $1 billion investment portfolio, and manage a variety of administrative functions (HR, IT, facilities), among other duties. If her time at PCSO is any indication, she will work hard and be successful in these endeavors. MFH is truly privileged to be getting her. Jill has been with PCSO since 2008, and her successes and achievements are immeasurable. She has helped to shape the success of the organization and promote our mission and values. Since I became editor-in-chief of the PCSO Bulletin, Jill has helped me to improve the publication and our editorial team. She has also worked closely with the PCSO Board of Directors and staff to improve doctor and staff education, promote consumer awareness of our specialty, and encourage residents and newer members to join organized orthodontics as members of PCSO or other constituent societies. While Jill's position as AAO director of finance has been filled through the promotion of Casandra Scales, Jill will continue to serve as PCSO executive director until the new executive director can transition into the position. This means that Jill will be helping us with the Annual Session in Seattle this October and will support the new executive director for as long as necessary in order to ensure a smooth transition for PCSO. Please join me in congratulating Jill on her new venture. She has served beyond our expectations and has truly been a valuable asset to our team from day one. Her shoes will be difficult to fill. We sincerely wish her the very best of everything and want to be sure that she is aware of our appreciation.
