Faculty Files Transposition Maxillary canine/premolar and mandibular lateral incisor/canine are the most commonly transposed teeth.10 Incomplete transposition occurs when the crowns are transposed but the root apices are positioned properly. In cases with complete transposition, the crown and root are both affected. The case below illustrates transposition of the left mandibular lateral incisor and canines. Complete transposition was not observed, so the lateral incisor was protracted into the correct position (Figures 7-9). Figure 7.
