In Memoriam
Dr. John Sebanc, 1941-2017
Dr. Cliff Running
Phoenix, AZ
Dr. John Sebanc passed away in March after a
long and storied life in orthodontics. He received
his dental degree, pedodontic certificate, and
orthodontic degree from Marquette University.
He practiced in Wisconsin and Scottsdale, AZ,
and taught in the Department of Orthodontics
at Marquette University and the Postgraduate
Orthodontic Department of the Arizona School
of Dentistry & Oral Health in Mesa, AZ. It was in
these places that he received his cherished gift:
the opportunity to instruct and mentor the next
generation of orthodontists. He was respected
by his peers and treasured by his residents.
In 1966, John married Ann Preo. They had five
children: Robert, Jennifer, Richard, Thomas, and
Michael. Ann passed away in 1997, followed a
year later by their daughter Jennifer. Shortly
thereafter, John retired from the practice of
orthodontics and moved to Lake Tahoe.
John will be fondly remembered for his sense of
humor, his quick smile, his integrity, loyalty, honesty, and his mental acuity. He was an incredible
man who was deeply loved; he will be sorely
missed.
The loss of his wisdom and gentle demeanor
leaves a void in the orthodontic profession which
he so dearly loved. He is survived by his wife Judy,
his twin brother James, his brother Edward, his
sister Angela Bois, his children Robert, Richard,
Thomas, and Michael, their families, and many
grandchildren. Donations can be made in Dr.
Sebanc's memory to the Arizona School of
Dentistry & Oral Health, Postgraduate Orthodontic Department 200-946; 5835 E. Still Circle, Mesa,
AZ 85206.
In 2003, John married Judith Warner and moved
to Scottsdale, AZ. They shared the joy of a combined family of eight children, their children's
spouses, and 16 grandchildren. John was referred
to as "Don-Don" by his grandchildren, Dylan and
Harder Sebanc; Chloe and Erin Sebanc; Truman,
Miles, and Marshall Sebanc; Ashley Davies;
Berkleigh and Colton Warner; Mason, Kendall,
and Blair Warner; Naia and Katherine Wilcox; and
Isabella Warner.
