The Saskatchewan Society of
Orthodontists held its Annual
Meeting on January 20, 2017, at
the Holiday Inn in Saskatoon. In
conjunction with the meeting, we had our sixth
annual day of continuing education, with over
67 orthodontists and team members attending.
Dentsply GAC was the generous sponsor of the
event. Dr. Antonio Secchi presented a talk entitled
"Leveraging Clinical Advancements in Treatment
Mechanics" to the staff and doctors; he discussed
the Complete Clinical Orthodontics (CCO) system.
Our thanks to Dr. Mike Wagner for organizing the
event and speaker. During the meeting, we
inducted our new president, Dr. Brian Phee of
Regina. Our next Annual Meeting will be held in
Saskatoon during winter 2017/18; we hope to
again have a great attendance.

Jr., is professor and chair of the Department
of Orthodontics at Oregon Health & Science
University in Portland, OR. He holds many more
responsibilities including as an associate editor
of the AJO/DO; he is also on the AAO Council
of Scientific Affairs representing the PCSO. He
recently spoke at the 2017 AAO Annual Session in
San Diego regarding 3-D imaging, CBCT, and its
uses in assessing alveolar bone height/thickness
and in 3-D imaging for Class III orthopedic treatment. Mr. Steve McEvoy is a consultant at MME
Consulting, focusing on technology and its integration for dental specialists. He recently spoke
at the 2017 AAO Annual Session in regards to
computer security, the cloud, and other issues
pertaining to digital technology, software, and
its integration within the dental office. More

Recently, there was an abrupt closure of an orthodontic practice in Washington State; this resulted
in many patients in various stages of treatment
having to seek continued orthodontic care. As
orthodontists, we know that it is difficult to continue treatment for a patient who is partway
through the process, but many of our members
set this aside and welcomed these patients into
their practices. The WSSO president and board
members would like to extend their deepest
gratitude to these practitioners. We are proud of
these members and feel that they reflect the values and principles of our profession and specialty.

Washington
The Washington State Society
of Orthodontists (WSSO) Annual
Meeting will be held on Friday,
February 2, 2018, at the beautiful
Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue. The
theme for this year is "Technology in Treatment."
We are proud to be hosting Dr. Michael Gunson,
Dr. David Covell, Jr., and Steve McEvoy. Dr. Gunson
is a well-known oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
He has lectured and published research on the
surgical correction of obstructive sleep apnea
(OSA), the three-dimensional airway changes
associated with surgical correction, the medical
treatment of mandibular condylar resorption,
and the quantification of beauty. Dr. David Covell,

For the upcoming PCSO Annual Session in Reno
on October 12-15, the WSSO is happy to
announce that it will subsidize breakfast for all
active WSSO members, to a cost of $20.
